This year, make

every day better

Whether your New Year’s resolution is to build your savings or prioritize healthier meals, now is the time to focus on making every day better.

Establish healthy eating habits. Did you know you should eat more or less of certain foods as you age? But you don’t need to overcomplicate healthy eating. In fact, that will make it more difficult to stick to your new habit. Make healthy eating easier by following these eight tips.

Move more. When you’re over age 50, it’s important to make these four key exercise categories a priority — strength, aerobic, flexibility, and balance. Incorporating each of these will help you remain mobile and independent for as long as possible. Download our new free exercise guide to keep track of your progress.

Get your finances in order. A new year means another tax season is approaching. Even though federal income taxes, tax credits, and tax deductions differ for retirees, don’t fear. Read our 2024 tax guide to make sense of it all.

Prepare for the rest of the year. If you didn’t plan out your year in December using our free End-of-year health and financial wellness checklist, it’s not too late. Use the checklist to schedule appointments, choose financial milestones to focus on, and decide which habits you should start or kick to the curb.

Fill Medicare gaps

It’s easy to focus solely on saving while planning for retirement, but don’t forget preparing for health care costs with insurance too. Medicare helps cover some costs, but you may want to consider adding supplemental health insurance — such as Medicare Supplement, Hospital Indemnity, Short-term Care, or Dental insurance — to fill the gaps left behind.
