Following in his parents’ footsteps, Derek Manion pursued a career in accounting because he valued its stability. 

“I’ve always liked dealing with numbers and being detailed, so accounting seemed to fit,” he says.

Derek first focused on auditing, but now he is an Accounting Manager at Wellabe, where he handles budgeting and management reporting. 

“I get to see pieces of every aspect of the business, and it allows me to see a comprehensive view of what we are doing as a company,” he says.

One of his many accomplishments is report innovation.

“During the general ledger conversion to Workday, I created nearly all of the reports that we needed for reporting and continued to make new reports as needed,” he says.

Looking ahead, Derek wants to enhance management reporting by collaborating with other departments to incorporate additional information.
